3G pitch

We are proud to announce our new 3G pitch is coming from July 2024.

What is a 3G pitch

A 3G (third generation) pitch is an artificial turf used primarily in sport. It mimics natural grass in terms of ball bounce and roll and provides reliable performance and safety. This makes it ideal for all-year-round use in different sports.

Applications

Our 3G pitch will be located on the warm-up track infield and will be marked out for:

  • full-size football
  • small-sided football (3 pitches available crossways)
  • rugby union
  • rugby league

Other sports markings can be considered on request.

The pitch is fully floodlit and can be accessed from either the GMAC or new stadium West Stand until new dedicated team changing rooms are installed.

Customer information

Players’ boots must be clean before going onto the pitch.

Metal stud trainers are not recommended because the studs can get lost in the pitch surface and pose a safety risk to players.

Anyone with inappropriate or muddy footwear will be asked to leave the pitch to prevent damaging the playing surface.

Acceptable footwear

  • Studs (moulded)
  • Plastic studs/ screw-in (screw-in less than 13mm)
